Prof. Guo-Zhen Yang from Institute of Physics, CAS visited C-UFO on 11th October, 2016 and gave the public talk on "Optical development and progress of human society". Prof. Hong-Bo Sun hosted the talk.
Prof. Guo-Zhen Yang received the diploma in theoretical physics from Peking University in 1965. From 1967 to present, he work in the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of physics, a former researcher, doctoral tutor, and served as deputy director, director. From 1983 to 1984, as a visiting scholar at the Berkeley National Laboratory in Lorenz, USA, and an associate professor in the Department of Applied Science at Harvard University. In 1999 he was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Former chairman of the Chinese Physics Society, Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of the Department of mathematical physics, pure and Applied Physics International Federation vice chairman. Mainly engaged in the field of photophysical research and achieved groundbreaking achievements. At the same time in the theoretical physics, condensed matter physics and other research areas also made a number of aspects of the corresponding important contribution. He has published more than 500 papers in domestic and international academic journals. He has won 1 item of the National Natural Science first Award, 2 items of second prize, including five national science and technology awards, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Natural Science Award, including the provincial and ministerial level science and technology awards 5.
