Dr. Dong Wu has received the "Thousand Young Talents Award" from the Chinese Thousand Talents Program, in 2013, which is the most prestigious Chinese National Program for recruiting outstanding young Chinese scientists in the natural science and engineering fields from overseas institutions.
The program is launched by the Chinese Government since 2008. The aim of this program is to recruit talents with highest level from all over the world to extend their career in Chinese Universities, Institutes and Corporations. Candidates for the program should be no more than 40 years of age, should have a doctorate from a well-known university, and at least three years of research or work experience at an international institution(s), along with demonstrated scientific capabilities. The program provides top salaries and attractive funding to elite researchers who are expected to lead innovative fields of study, improve key technologies and develop high-technology industries.
Dr. Dong Wu is born from Anhui Province in 1983. He received the Master and Doctoral degrees from Jilin University at 2007 and 2010 both under the guide of Prof. Hong-Bo Sun in CUFO. His research is mainly about 3D controllable microstructrues and functional devices by laser microfabrication technologies, for example, high precision 2D-3D microoptical devices, 3D microfluidic devices, 3D mechanical machines, large-area bio-inspired superhydrophobic surfaces and smart tunable biosurfaces. From 2011, Dr. Dong Wu went to RIKEN in Japan for foreigner postdoc researches on high performance true 3D microchips by hybrid femtosecond laser microfabrication. He has published 23 papers in international journals with high impact factors, such as, Adv. Mater., Adv. Funct. Mater., Small, Lab Chip, Appl. Phys. Lett., Opt. Lett., Soft Matter, Opt. Express, Langmuir, and so on. In 2012, he has got the prize of “Chinese Excellent Doctoral Dissertation”. In 2013, he has got the “Chinese Thousand Talents Program for Young Researcher”.
